Biography

Slamet Rahardjo Djarot (born January 21, 1949, in Serang, West Java, now part of Banten) is an Indonesian actor, director, and screenwriter. Known for over 50 years of his career as a versatile professional due to his strong and realistic on-screen presence, he is one of the most respected actors of his generation. His impressive performances were highly praised, particularly in romantic dramas such as Ranjang Pengantin (1974) and Di Balik Kelambu (1983).

Throughout his career, he has received various awards and nominations for the Citra Awards at the Indonesian Film Festival, including Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Music Director, Best Screenwriter, and Best Director, making him one of the most frequently nominated filmmakers in the event's history. He has won five of these awards: Best Director for Kembang Kertas (1985) and Kodrat (1986); Best Actor for Ranjang Pengantin (1974) and Di Balik Kelambu (1983); and Best Music Director for November 1828 (1979) — alongside Franki Raden and Sardono W. Kusumo.
